Suicide Prevention Week.. National Resources and Hawaii
Suicide prevention is everyone’s business and anyone can participate in National Suicide Prevention Week.
Hawaii suicide was the leading cause of fatal injuries between 2006 and 2010, according to studies. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, public school students are the highest in the nation in planning a suicide at 16% and 8.9 % seriously considered attempting suicide, and 12.8 attempted suicide.

How to help
High schools, colleges and universities can create their own activities for National Suicide Prevention Week. T
hese locations are ideal to promote public awareness of the goals of suicide prevention, educate the public about the prevalence of suicide in young adults.
Community mental health centers, hospitals, private treatment facilities and churches have a wide range
access to members of the community and are therefore in an ideal position to host National Suicide Prevention Week in their locality
Corporations and businesses can participate not only by hosting events by sponsoring events and working with other organizations.
